"That we were able to get it closed, that I will be able to move on from this really scary situation and just live my life."Īfter thanking the doctors who cared for her throughout her experience, Hailey said that she felt it was “important” for her to tell her story publicly, at length. “The biggest thing I feel is I just feel really relieved that we were able to figure everything out,” Hailey added, explaining that her anxiety made the ordeal more difficult to bear. “I recently got the PFO closure done and it went very smoothly, I'm recovering really well, really fast… I feel great.” “Eventually your heart tissue grows back over the closure device and that's it! Soon after, doctors determined through a series of tests and scans that she had “suffered a small blood clot” to her brain, defined as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA), also commonly referred to as a “mini stroke.” The tests also showed that the blood clot temporarily caused a lack of oxygen to a part of Hailey's brain.Īccording to Hailey, the doctors determined that her mini stroke was caused by three different factors, one being that she had recently started taking birth control pills without consulting with her doctor.
